![]() I've had Firefox open since last night (PC has been put to sleep a few times though) and with 6 tabs I'm at 400k memory usage. On my PC though I really don't care that much about memory usage, I only care that adblock+ is way better on Firefox. I acknowledge it gives back the ram far better which is why I use it on my MacBook. That tested article proved exactly what I said lol, the Chrome memory usage is far more than Firefox. Tested did an article on the memory usage of all 4 of the main browsers here.I haven't compared on Windows but on OS X Chrome definitely uses more than Firefox. Plus, even if you do open a million tabs, when you close them again the memory usage will drop down back to nearly where it started in chrome, but if you open a million tabs in Firefox and close them it keeps using way too much memory. Otherwise it's the most memory efficient browser by far. Chrome only really suffers from poor memory usage when loads of tabs are open. Firefox uses less memory than Chrome so how can you say Firefox is bloated?Ĭhrome uses way less memory than firefox unless you have a billion tabs open. Main thing stopping me from going Chrome full time, it does annoy me that I'm missing out on Chrome to Phone for Android but I really, really, really hate vidya ads. There's other sites that have the same results too, vid ads on Chrome, but not on Firefox. ABP isn't on par, go on Gametrailers and see how many video ads you get, you'll get them often on Chrome, but never on Firefox when using ABP. If you have tons of RAM, it shouldn't be that much of an issue though, you're right about that.Chrome uses more memory than Firefox though, I've never seen Firefox use more memory than Chrome, not since Firefox 4 I mean, I do think Firefox 3.6 was an inferior browser. If you have tons of RAM, it shouldn't be that much of an issue though, you're right about said: ABP is also in Chrome and it's on par with what it was in Firefox Well, the day I saw Firefox use 1GB of my RAM to run, I switched to Chrome. Though that said I've seen Chrome eat up way more memory than Firefox on there. (well, apparently there's a leak, I've not really seen it) On my MacBook though I do use Chrome as I have limited ram on that so the risk of a memory leak is more of an issue to me. ![]() Firefox uses less memory than Chrome so how can you say Firefox is bloated? Hmm? Now don't get me wrong, I love Chrome, if the adblock extension worked as well as the Firefox version did for video ads I'd probably be using Chrome instead, but because the adblock extension is way better on Firefox I don't mind putting up with the memory leak on my PC as I have plenty of ram to spare. Do the right thing and switch to Chrome.Oh dear. ![]()
